NOX FOR MAC REVIEW MANUAL
There are a ton of other manual tweaks you can make on your own, but that's beyond the scope of this conversation.

WineHQ has some pretty good documentation on common Wine settings and their effects.īeyond that all I can really recommend is researching the various popular DLL overrides and graphics switches available from winetricks-sometimes it's as simple as switching from OpenGL to GDI rendering (ddr=gdi). If anyone's tried with any success they will often post their Wine settings in one form or another. If you want to see what others have found (as far as Wine settings go) you can often start at WineHQ (in the AppDB section), PlayOnLinux/PlayOnMac, and the PortingTeam websites-all of which are easy enough to find via Google. It's best to stand on the shoulders of others whenever possible. The process of troubleshooting games with Wine is part luck and part experience, and it often comes down to simple trial and error.
NOX FOR MAC REVIEW HOW TO
Your mileage may vary.Īllom: This is way off topic, but is there a way to figure out how to run Return to Krondor? The only wineskin I could find has major problems with it, and I don't know enough about wineskin for what wine tricks and stuff should be used. Should be fine, but I haven't play tested it. Wineskin 2.6.1 fixes the problem, but I've only tested it with newer versions of the Wine engine so far (WS9Wine1.7.29+).
NOX FOR MAC REVIEW UPDATE
Update (2015.10.27) - OS X El Capitan (10.11): Since OS X El Capitan (10.11) was released, Wineskin 2.6.0 no longer works. If you prefer to use ddr=opengl, I recommend playing at 1024x768 instead of 640x480. Instead, you can set ddr=opengl, which will make the videos play more smoothly, but may also add some vsync issues / screen tearing during gameplay at lower resolutions. Setting ddr=gdi isn't strictly required, and it will likely make the video scenes choppy and difficult to watch. (12) Click Test Run to see if everything worked correctly-if so, you're done-if not, review above.Īs an aside, you can convert the gfw_high.ico icon file in the nested Nox game directory to a Mac compatible format (ICNS) using something like iConvertIcons (has an online web-based converter) and set the resulting gfw_high.icns file as the Wineskin icon in the Advanced > Configuration tab. * Override Wine control of Screen Settings? - Override (11) Click Set Screen Options and change the following (click Done when finished): (10) Set the runnable Windows EXE option to use NOX.EXE (9) Complete the installation, agreeing to the EULA and using the installer defaults-if you can't see the buttons, just use the Enter key to progress through each screen.

NOX FOR MAC REVIEW FOR MAC OS X
How to create a functional Nox via Wineskin for Mac OS X (tested on Yosemite 10.10): This addresses an issue for Nox (version 1.0.0.10) on OS X where the game hangs on the character creation screen when the Accept button is clicked. Excerpt from Q: Can't get past the character creation screen.
